eTaxNexus

How It Works

From “I Have No Idea What I Owe” to Fully Filed.

Four steps, no jargon, no surprises. Here’s exactly what happens when you work with eTaxNexus — what you do, what we do, and how long each stage takes.

1Step One
20 minutes · Free

The Free Tax Check

A short, friendly call — video or phone, your choice. We ask where you live, what you earn, what accounts you hold, and what you’ve filed so far. You ask anything you want.

By the end, you’ll have honest first answers: whether you have a filing obligation, whether anything looks urgent, and whether you even need paid help at all. Sometimes the answer is “you’re fine” — and we’ll tell you so.

What to have handy (nothing formal needed)
  • Your rough situation — country, visa type, when you moved or plan to.
  • Income picture — salary, freelance, pension, investments (ballpark is fine).
  • Filing history — when you last filed a US return, if ever, and whether you’ve heard of FBAR.
  • Your questions — no question is too basic. That’s the point of the call.
2Step Two
Within a few business days

Your Written Assessment

If your situation calls for it, we prepare a written, plain-English assessment: every form that applies to you, the exclusions and credits you likely qualify for, any catch-up procedures you should consider, and a transparent estimate of professional costs.

This document is yours to keep — whether or not you go further with us. No pressure, no lock-in.

Your assessment covers
  • Filing obligations — federal, state, FBAR, FATCA, and anything country-specific.
  • Strategy view — FEIE vs. Foreign Tax Credit, treaty positions, timing questions.
  • Catch-up path — if you’re behind, which procedure fits and what it involves.
  • Cost estimate — what professional preparation would cost, in writing, before you commit.
3Step Three
Introduction within days

Matched With the Right Professional

We introduce you to a vetted, US-licensed CPA or Enrolled Agent who specializes in expat returns for your country — someone who deals with your treaty, your pension type, and your paperwork every single week.

You meet them before committing. The scope and fixed price are agreed in writing. If the fit isn’t right, we rematch you at no cost.

Every professional in our network is
  • US-licensed — CPA or IRS Enrolled Agent, verified.
  • Expat-specialized — international returns are their core work, not a sideline.
  • Transparent on price — fixed quotes for defined scopes, agreed before work starts.
  • Client-reviewed — we collect feedback after every engagement and act on it.
4Step Four
Ongoing

Filed, On Track, and Never Alone

Your returns get prepared and filed. Your personalized deadline calendar gets set. And we stay your point of contact — checking that everything moves, answering the “quick question” emails, and making next year genuinely easier than this one.

Most clients’ second year takes a fraction of the effort of the first. That’s the goal: compliance that fades into the background of your life abroad.

What ongoing looks like
  • Deadline reminders — every date that applies to you, weeks in advance.
  • Annual check-in — a quick review of what changed: income, moves, accounts, family.
  • Same professional — continuity year over year, unless you want a change.
  • Life-event support — new country, new job, marriage, property — we re-assess when things change.
Our Promises

How We Work, In Writing

Price Before Work

You will never receive a bill you didn’t approve in advance. Every scope is quoted fixed, in writing.

Your Data, Guarded

Documents move through secure channels only. We share information with your matched professional and no one else.

Honest Scope

If you don’t need a service, we say so. Plenty of Tax Checks end with “you’re fine — here’s your calendar.”
